Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

(Preschool & Reception)

At Edison International Academy, Dahl Al Hamam, children in Preschool and Reception follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum from England.

Why EYFS Is Important

  • Early childhood experiences strongly shape a child’s future.
  • A happy, safe, and supportive start helps children grow socially, emotionally, physically, and intellectually.
  • Each child learns at their own pace and needs activities that build confidence and key life skills.

How Children Learn – The 3 Characteristics

  • Playing & Exploring: trying new things, being curious, having the confidence to “have a go.”
  • Active Learning: staying focused, enjoying achievements, not giving up easily.
  • Creating & Thinking Critically: ideas, solving problems, finding new ways to do things

Our Preschool and Reception classes are designed to give children daily opportunities to practice all three.
